Humbug: The Complete Victorian Ghostbusting Epic

Humbug, published by 451 Media Group, is a "mind-blowing" supernatural reimagining of Charles Dickens' classic holiday tale. This series answers the question: what happens to Ebenezer Scrooge the day after his life-changing encounter with the three spirits? Instead of retiring, Scrooge opens The House of Humbug, London's first paranormal investigation agency. Alongside his team of "Humbuggers," including Bob Cratchit and a six-foot-tall Tiny Tim, Scrooge uses his wits and spectral resources to battle a demonic takeover of the city.

Humbug Issue-by-Issue Summary

The complete run consists of five "action-packed" issues that blend Victorian history with modern paranormal thrills.

  • Humbug #1: The premiere launch introduces us to the world's first paranormal investigator. Scrooge recruits his nephew Fred and the Cratchits to rid London of malevolent spooks taking over the city.

  • Humbug #2: As a spectral invasion grips London, Scrooge realizes he needs more firepower. He turns to the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, teaming up with historical figures like H.G. Wells and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

  • Humbug #3: The "pulsating" mystery deepens as the team uncovers a conspiracy linked to the very heart of the British Empire. The Humbuggers must navigate a "stupefying" underworld of spirits and secret societies.

  • Humbug #4: With the city on the brink of total spectral collapse, the stakes reach a fever pitch. Scrooge must confront a ghost from his own past that he thought was buried long ago.

  • Humbug #5: In the "senses-shattering" series finale, the House of Humbug faces an all-out war. It’s a "miraculous" conclusion that determines the fate of both the living and the dead in Victorian London.
